The Clark County Republican Party is soliciting candidates to fill out the term of county Councilor Eileen Quiring.

Quiring was elected council chair in November, leaving her seat representing District 4 on the council open as she takes the new office. Under the Washington Constitution’s process for filling partisan vacancies, the Clark County Republican Party will submit three candidates to the Clark County Council, which will pick one to finish her term. Under the state Constitution, Quiring’s replacement must be of the same party and reside in District 4, a largely rural district that includes Camas, Washougal and large portions of north county.

According to a news release, the Clark County Republican Party is now seeking nominations for the open seat.

Self-nominations should include full contact information, as well as a statement indicating the candidate is affiliated with the Republican Party and lives within District 4. Those wishing to nominate others, must submit the full contact information of the nominee, along with a signed statement from the nominee that they agree to serve if selected.

Those interested must notify Clark County Republican Party Chairman Earl Bowerman no later than Jan. 10. Nominations can be emailed to earl@earlbowerman.com or mailed to Clark County Republican Party, P. O. Box 205, Vancouver, WA 98666.

All nominations will be acknowledged within 12 hours with further information on the process, according to the news release.

If an acknowledgment isn’t received, candidates should contact Bowerman via email.
