Idaho tops Portland State 97-88

Blake, Sanders combine for 50 points to lead Vandals

PORTLAND — Brayon Blake scored 28 points with eight rebounds, Victor Sanders added 22 points with seven assists and Idaho turned back Portland State 97-88 on Thursday night.

The Vandals (15-7, 7-3 Big Sky Conference) took the lead midway through the first half and kept the lead in double figures most of the second half to avenge a one-point home loss in the first meeting.

Perrion Callandret added 16 points for Idaho. The Vandals went 11 of 23 from 3-point range and shot 61 percent overall.

Blake and Sanders combined for Idaho’s first 10 points of the second half for a 58-40 lead. The Vikings scored nine straight but never got close than nine until the last minute.

Blake scored 14 in the first half and the Vandals broke away from a 24-24 tie to lead 48-37 at the break.

Michael Mayhew scored 20 for the Vikings (13-9, 3-6), who shot 43 percent. Bryce Canda added 17 points and Brandon Hollins scored 15.
