24 teachers with Evergreen Public Schools earn national certification

Evergreen Public Schools announced 24 teachers have earned the prestigious National Board Certification.

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is an independent nonprofit recognizing accomplished educators around the country. Washington has about 9,000 National Board Certified Teachers, giving the state the fourth largest group in the nation, according to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Evergreen Public Schools has 310 teachers with the certification. Another 20 were recertified.

Achieving National Board Certification is among the toughest and highest benchmarks teachers can reach. Teachers spend up to five years assembling portfolios and taking and assessment that demonstrates they know and use “the definitive standards of accomplished teaching.”

The teachers newly recognized are:

• Robert Berrigan, Heritage High School.

• Rebecca Brown, Covington Middle School.

• Jalah Bryant, Covington Middle School.

• Anna Capacci, Evergreen High School.

• Marissa Davis, Wy’east Middle School.

• Ada Dellay, Cascade Middle School.

• Brooke Eckelberry, Evergreen and Henrietta Lacks high schools.

• Lisa Beth Elliott, Orchards Elementary.

• Lynelle Gamage, Crestline Elementary.

• Amanda Godsil, Frontier Middle School.

• Jeff Goudy, Shahala Middle School.

• Stephanie Holtman, Orchards Elementary.

• Mary Krzysiak, Crestline Elementary.

• Amberlynn Lane, Silver Star Elementary.

• Kari Liebert, Fisher’s Landing Elementary.

• Miranda Massart, Heritage High School.

• Steven Massart, Heritage High School.

• Andrea Mortensen, Frontier Middle School.

• Susan Payton, Burnt Bridge Creek Elementary.

• Erin Pinning, Education Technology.

• Heather Sochacki, Wy’east Middle School.

• DeAnn VanNess, Columbia Valley Elementary.

• Laurie Williams, Covington Middle School.
