Clark County officers and deputies arrested five people suspected of driving under the influence during heightened enforcement for Super Bowl Sunday.
Vancouver and Battle Ground police departments, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol troopers were out on the roads and keeping their eyes on drivers while football fans watched the big game. They worked a total of 58½ overtime hours during the initiative, according to a release from Vancouver police.
The officers pulled over nearly 600 drivers, five of whom were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the release states. They also handed out a total of 45 citations and gave 48 warnings.
The enforcement efforts were made possible through a grant from the state’s Traffic Safety Commission as part of the Target Zero Plan, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030.
