Wow! What an experience. Our family suffered a sudden unexpected death very recently. Our family member was an honorable veteran who put his life on the line for years in order to give us our freedom and safety.
I spent hours on the phone, on hold for long periods, and passed from person to person repeatedly. My request was specific and very simple, and I still don’t have the needed information. I was informed that there’s a six- to eight-week wait to have a veteran’s memorial service at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. So our loved one can’t receive what he is entitled to and rightfully deserves: for his family and friends to pay their respects in a timely way. When the service is performed, it will be in and out — short and to the point. This is how our veterans are treated; it’s inexcusable and outright disgusting.
President Trump can start making America great again by making sure our veterans and their families are taken care of and treated with respect in a timely fashion.
I was a military wife and mother. My son and I were treated as second-class citizens. Again — this was unacceptable and disgusting.
