Woodland — In honor of School Board Recognition Month, students and staff at Woodland Public Schools celebrated the district’s board at its Jan. 22 meeting. The meeting opened with Superintendent Michael Green recognizing each board member and presenting them with a special plaque. Each of the district’s schools and programs prepared posters thanking the board members, and Woodland High School students assembled individual gift baskets representing different programs at the school that included potted plants from Woodland’s horticulture classes. “School districts’ elected boards of directors play a crucial role for our communities and our schools,” Green said in a release from the district. “These community leaders volunteer to take on the sometimes daunting task of helping guide school districts, with their decisions affecting student learning, professional development and every other aspect of school district operations.”
