A motorcyclist died this afternoon after colliding into a parked semitrailer in east Vancouver.

The name of the driver, a male, was not released pending notification of next of kin. It appears he was westbound on Southeast Seventh Street when he crashed into the back of the semitrailer near where the street intersects with Southeast 136th Avenue, said Vancouver Police Department Sgt. Aaron Gibson. The crash was reported at 4:25 p.m. and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is common for semitrailers to park on the side of Southeast Seventh Street. The street will remain closed for several hours as detectives investigate the crash, Gibson said.
