Letter: There still are good people

In this day and age of divisiveness within our country, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that there are still good people in this country. I had some of that faith in humanity restored Thursday while out for a motorcycle ride on state Highway 14, east of Washougal, at 10 p.m.

I had wiring for my lights get ripped out, leaving us broken down on the shoulder with no lights. As we worked to repair the wiring well enough to get home, several people stopped to offer assistance, use of their tools, etc.

One woman returned to bring us a roll of electrical tape, and a couple sat behind us, shining their headlights to help us see what we were doing, and also to help us be seen in traffic. They followed us to the Washougal exit to make sure we made it off the freeway. We made it home without any further incident. To all those who stopped and assisted, thank you.
