WOODLAND — Concrete company Columbia Precast Products has been recognized by its industry for sustainability practices.

Last week, the National Precast Concrete Association gave first place for sustainability to the Woodland company, which makes manholes, catch basins and utility vaults for underground construction.

The honor follows the company earning a Sustainable Material Ratings Technology — SMaRT — certification from the Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability.

Gregg Gjerswold, controller for the company, said staff has grown from 20 workers to 52 since moving into its new 60,000-square-foot facility last April.
