The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers of Oregon are asking for the public’s help in solving the January 2015 homicide of Jessica Newton.

Newton’s body was found near the Columbia River in Clark County on Jan. 2, 2015. A boater found the 40-year-old woman’s remains on the western shoreline of Bachelor Island near Ridgefield, deputies said at that time.

The Clark County medical examiner found that Newton died of homicidal violence. Investigators said she may have died some time in late December 2014 but had little other information about her whereabouts or acquaintances around the same time.

Officials also said Newton frequented homeless services in east and downtown Portland.

The sheriff’s office is again sharing that information in hopes someone will come forward with new investigative leads.

Crime Stoppers said in a release it offers cash rewards of up to $2,500 for valid tips about unsolved homicides that lead to an arrest. Information about other felony crimes may net tipsters up to $1,000.

“Information learned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube should be shared as these tips may lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects. Links can be shared anonymously through Crime Stoppers,” the release says.
