Alex Schumacher scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as unbeaten Skyview held off a resilient Battle Ground squad.

Skyview, ranked No. 2 in the Class 4A RPI rankings, improved to 15-0 overall and 3-0 in the 4A Greater St. Helens League.

Battle Ground (8-6, 1-1) trailed 35-25 at halftime, but clawed back. Vincent McCormic led all scorers with a season-high 20 points.

“We came in with a great gameplan,” Battle Ground coach Manny Melo said. “We played great defense, but they made quite a few tough shots.”

Skyview held on down the stretch by making its free throws. The Storm finished 14 for 16 from the foul line.

Melo said his team can use the loss as motivation.

“Our potential and ceiling are very high,” he said. “We’re not close to fulfilling our potential yet. But when we do we can compete with the best teams in the state.”
