Letter: Support Evergreen bond

By Rob Lutz, Vancouver
Published: January 19, 2018, 6:00am

As president of the Evergreen Education Association, I’m honored to promote the endorsement of Evergreen Public Schools’ bond by the nearly 1,800 teachers, counselors, nurses and others who work with our students daily.

Students must feel safe, welcome, and excited to learn. We fail to provide for them when they’re freezing in classrooms, breathing radon, or are insecure against outside threats while learning in portables. Thanks to changes in how taxes are collected for schools statewide, we can pass this bond for a cost less than what we paid in 2017 property taxes. Vote yes on Feb. 13! Information is at www.evergreenps.org/envision.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
