Letter: Women should roar, not purr

I am shocked and embarrassed by the women in our country who make a statement by wearing a certain disgustingly named hat. What do women of the world think of this “feminine symbol”? A person would think they could choose a stronger one.

Women wanting equal pay and rights sang “I am woman hear me roar,” not “I am woman hear me purr.” We should set a better example for our young ladies who have to grow up in this topsy-turvy United States. We had strong women in the past who took a silent stand and were good role models for girls today. How about Rosa Parks? Even though Rosie is considered fictitious, we had many Rosie the Riveters during World War II working for our country, not against it, and taking good care of their families.

It doesn’t take much to wear a hat or march. Protesters marching have never changed my mind. It is our privilege to vote. Votes are our voice!
