Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following, call 360-735-3690.

• Clark County Connects, a one-day service event, seeks volunteers for its seventh-annual event, 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 8. Families, groups, and individuals are encouraged to register for the event where hundreds of volunteers accomplish a variety of projects around the county. Information is at clarkcountyconnects.org

• Clark County Veterans Assistance Center seeks volunteers for two events: a car show on Aug. 25, and its annual Stand Down on Sept. 15. Help distribute flyers and set up. Stand Down volunteers must be 18 or older and pass a criminal background check.

• Angels of God provides meals for hungry people at Memorial Lutheran Church 2700 E. 28th St., Vancouver. Volunteers are needed to set up and serve food. All volunteers must have a current food handlers card from the state of Washington. The organization also operates a food pantry on Wednesdays and Sundays at Living Hope Chapel, 2533 N.E. Andresen Road, Vancouver. Volunteers at the pantry assist with food baskets and meals.

• Clark College seeks help in its cooking program. Volunteers prepare for cooking classes, work with experienced chefs and enjoy tasting new foods.

• 501 Commons seeks volunteers with a broad understanding of nonprofit administration or small business development. Volunteer consultants help with the self-assessment process, help organizations determine priorities, and do curated recommendations.
