Bicyclist stuck and killed on Ocean Beach Highway in Longview

LONGVIEW — A 55-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a car just outside of Longview city limits.

The Daily News reports that Michael Day of Longview was declared dead at the scene on Thursday night. His family has been notified.

The Washington State Patrol says 21-year-old Austin Dumont-Gerber was driving a 1996 Acura Integra west on Ocean Beach Highway at about 11 p.m. Thursday when he struck Day as he crossed the highway.

Dumont-Gerber of Longview and his 23-year-old passenger were not injured, but the car was destroyed.

The incident is under investigation.
