Letter: Stop madness in White House

By Barbara Backman, Vancouver

After practicing the “duck and cover” nuclear bomb exercises in school in the 1960s, I would return home and ask my mother when the Russians were coming, when they were going to drop the bomb on us and when they were going to invade our country. Today that question has been answered. The Russians are here, and they are occupying the White House.

Our Constitution is a brilliant document that sets forth how a government for the people, by the people, should work under its three distinct branches. I have never been so frightened in my life and fear that our democracy is unraveling before my very eyes.

I implore those in power to do something to stop this madness before we devolve any further. We are better than this as people and as a society.

May God help us all.
