POULSBO — Authorities say a driver is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he opened fire at two other vehicles on a bridge in northwest Washington.
The Washington State Patrol said the bullets barely missed two little girls and their father in one vehicle on the Hood Canal Bridge.
KOMO reports the shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the shooter dead and bullet holes in two other vehicles.
A preliminary investigation found that three vehicles were stopped on the Hood Canal Bridge, which was temporarily closed for evening maintenance. At some point, the driver of the middle vehicle opened fire at the vehicles ahead and behind him. That driver then shot and killed himself.
No other information was immediately available about the shooter.
