Letter: Stewart valuable for residents

I attended the ODOT meeting regarding tolls where Clark County Councilor Jeanne Stewart (who always seems able to speak her mind with a bite that still remains graceful) told them: “You keep saying ‘value pricing,’ but there is no value for the people who will pay this. Let’s stop calling it ‘value pricing’ because that’s just insulting.”

Even the news reporter smiled and laughed a little when people were discussing that statement after the meeting was over, and there was a man sitting behind me who lives on Hayden Island who practically took me out trying to shake her hand and tell her how much he wished he could vote for her.

I wish more people would have attended these meetings and seen how our elected representatives tried to stand up for their constituents. I know people are busy, though, so I wanted to share this and I hope that every Clark County resident pictures Stewart giving them jazz over their “insulting” slogan every single time they see ODOT trying to sell us on their “value pricing.”
