Homeless service provider Share will launch on Monday its annual Hunger Appeal that supports its meal programs. CenturyLink will match donations up to $100,000. Donations can be made online at centurylink.com/fooddrive as part of the company’s nationwide drive. The Hunger Appeal runs through June 15.
Share’s Backpack program provides children with food during the school year, the Summer Meals program feeds children at sites throughout Vancouver and the Hot Meals program serves meals to people in need and living at shelters.
“Hunger is no laughing matter. But humor can open the door for people to more easily talk about tough issues that face our friends and neighbors,” Diane McWithey, Share’s executive director, said in a news release. “So, this year we infused humor into our campaign, featuring comics created by local children, focusing on the message that no person should ever have to worry where their next meal is coming from.”
Donors can also mail checks to Share at 2306 N.E. Andresen Road, which will be matched up to $10,000 by the Vancouver Energy Community Fund.
