Battle Ground — Tukes Valley Primary School second-graders were honored at a Battle Ground City Council meeting in May for their artwork, which was displayed in city hall. As part of their curriculum, the students have been learning about civics and how communities work, and visited the police station, fire station and city hall. They role-played as city council, city staff and citizens to learn about local government. Mayor Mike Dalesandro invited the students to submit art using the theme of Community Helpers.
