Portland — Car2Go, the on-demand car rental program, is bringing bike racks back to some of its Portland cars.
The company, which is a subsidiary of Daimler AG, first offered bike racks on its two-seater Smart cars in 2015. But last fall, Car2go pulled the Smart cars.
The company said Portland is the only of 24 cities worldwide where it operates that is equipped with bike racks. Car2go has 475 vehicles in Portland.
The company said it chooses to use racks in Portland because residents here “pride themselves on bike culture and their appreciation for combining different modes of transportation for daily travel.”
Portland has an estimated 62,000 users on the platform, up 16 percent from last year, according to a company statement.
