Oregon man, 63, drowns in Deschutes River

BEND, Ore. — Authorities say a 63-year-old man drowned while trying to swim across the Deschutes River in Central Oregon.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office says the Sunriver man struggled with the current Thursday night and was swept downriver. A deputy later found the body caught on a snag.

Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Biondi says alcohol is believed to be a factor.
