The great Portland extras boom continues, with an upcoming open casting call for background extras to appear in “Timmy Failure,” from Walt Disney Studios. The movie, adapted from a children’s book series by Stephan Pastis, is scheduled to film in the Portland area from July 27 through Sept. 8.

In the “Timmy Failure” books, Pastis (who also created and draws the comic strip “Pearls Before Swine”) introduces young readers to Timmy Failure, an 11-year-old who runs his own detective agency (named “Total Failure, Inc.”), and is assisted by his business partner, a polar bear named Total.

According to a Deadline article, the “Timmy Failure” movie is being made to air on the new Disney streaming service.

The casting call for extras to appear in “Timmy Failure,” which was posted on Facebook, is being handled by New York-based Grant Wilfley Casting Inc. The company is looking for children and adults of all ages and types. The open casting call for extras is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8. It happens at the DoubleTree Hotel at 1000 N.E. Multnomah St., Portland. If unable to attend, people can submit by emailing timmyfailure.bg@disneympp.com with the subject line, “Flyer.”

In the submission, include your full name and phone number and attach a current candid photo of yourself. If submitting a child, parents should include the parent’s name, child’s name, the age of the child and date of birth, contact information and current or recent photos. If cast, extras must have valid ID to fill out a federal I9 form on set.

“Timmy Failure” joins the list of projects either shooting or soon to shoot in Oregon, including the Netflix drama, “The OA.”; Season 3 of the IFC TV comedy series, “Documentary Now!”; and the Freeform drama, “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.”
