Nonprofit awards grants to 23 organizations

East County — The Camas-Washougal Community Chest announced 23 grants the organization is handing out, totaling $83,350 going to nonprofits delivering services to children and families in Camas and Washougal. The money will be used for services including emergency food assistance, aid to families in crisis, safe temporary shelter for at-risk youth, summer reading programs at local libraries, enhancing the habitat of Gibbons Creek in the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge and helping local Boy Scouts pay to attend summer camp. Some of the organizations that received grants are Inter-Faith Treasure House, Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, Opera Quest Northwest, Camas-Washougal Historical Society and General Federation of Women’s Clubs.
