A woman who was crossing Northeast Highway 99 outside a marked crosswalk Friday was struck and killed by a pickup truck, according to Clark County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies and first responders were called to the 8200 block of Northeast Highway 99 at 9:34 p.m. for a report of a woman hit by a vehicle. They arrived to find the pedestrian was critically injured; she died later at a hospital. Her name was not released pending notification of her family.

The incident occurred after dark and about 200 feet away from the nearest marked crosswalk in gloomy, rainy weather.

Witnesses reported she was crossing the five-lane road when she was struck by a southbound pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, Jeffrey Donaca, 42, of Vancouver, stopped, remained on scene, and is cooperating with the investigation. Although the investigation continues, he is not facing any charges at this time, deputies said.
