Employment organization Workforce Southwest Washington has named Kevin Perkey its new CEO, replacing outgoing leader Jeanne Bennett.

The nonprofit, which receives partial funding through the state Employment Security Department, announced the promotion Tuesday. Perkey first joined the organization in June to oversee adult and collaborative grant programs, the announcement said.

Before that, he led similar community and workforce development programs in Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his undergraduate degree and a master’s in public administration.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of such an innovative and forward-thinking organization,” Perkey said.

Bennett had previously led the organization for six years but stepped down to spend more time with her family.

Since its founding in 2002, Workforce Southwest Washington has invested more than $80 million in job recruitment programs and employee training, it said. The organization focuses on Clark, Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties.
