PORTLAND — Court documents say a Multnomah County inmate is accused of causing an estimated $3,000 in damages after climbing into the ceiling of Portland’s Inverness Jail in an attempt to escape.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports that 29-year-old Robert T. Arrington was booked into jail March 12 on suspicion of interfering with a police officer and resisting arrest. County deputies said he was missing for more than three hours while staff searched for him at the medium-security jail last Wednesday.
Jail surveillance video shows Arrington reach toward a ceiling access hatch in a dorm he was housed in, break off the lock hasp and stand on a large trash can to climb into the space between the ceiling and the roof. Arrington made his way out into a secured port, where was apprehended.
