Hockinson native Sarah Crouch won the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon on Sunday in Texas. It was her second consecutive half marathon victory.

Crouch, 28, now of Flagstaff, Ariz., posted a time of 1 hour, 19 minutes, 5 seconds. That was the sixth-fastest time overall out of 6,620 competitors, according to the race website. There were 3,765 women competing.

“I went out with the expectation to win, and mentality that has served me well,” Crouch said in a phone interview. “I have made up my mind to race for the sake of racing, feel the wind in my hair. Slowly but surely, I’m getting back to that.”

Last month, Crouch won the Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon in New Orleans in 1:17:31.

“Dallas was quite hilly as compared to New Orleans,” Crouch said. “It was a tougher course, which accounts for the time difference.”

Crouch’s best half time is 1:12:12, set in 2014, in Duluth, Minn. She finished 13th at the Chicago Marathon last year in a personal-best 2:33.

One thing Crouch likes a little better than marthons is the quick turnaround runners can do by competing in half marathons.

“Marathons are not as forgiving. It puts you out for a while,” she said. “But with half, you can do six, seven or eight a season.”

Her third of 2018 will be another Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon, which takes place on April 22 in Madrid.

“I’ve really fallen in love with the race set up,” Crouch said of competing in the Rock ‘n’ Roll series.
