It was a joy to read about Vancouver resident Delona Moore reaching her 100th birthday, as I have thought about her during the past 50 years (“100th Birthday Milestone: Delona Moore,” Feb. 28, The Columbian). I was one of her many piano students and would sometimes walk from Lewis Junior High School to her studio on Fourth Plain Boulevard for lessons. While I can’t claim any great musical achievements, I certainly have been able to enjoy the benefits of her training. She always made me feel special when I entered her studio.
Moore gave me the gift of music and respect, for which I will be forever grateful.
