Felida — Vancouver native Cambria Prentice-Wattson, 24, celebrated International Women’s Day by handing out roses to women in Seattle. March 8 wasn’t only International Women’s Day, but it also marked three years to the day from when Prentice-Wattson survived a sexual assault. The 2012 Skyview High School graduate set up a GoFundMe and raised $850, which she used to buy 1,095 roses, one for every day she has been a survivor. On March 8, she and a group of friends handed out the roses, each coming with a card explaining why she was handing them out. On the cards, Prentice-Wattson wrote about her assault, and how the goal of giving away roses was to help her continued healing process, to be a strong and active supporter of assault victims and to possibly help other women find strength in themselves.
