Clark baseball falls short at Linn-Benton, 7-3

The Clark College baseball team opened a five-game series with NWAC South region leader Linn-Benton with a 7-3 loss on Tuesday at Albany, Ore.

The No. 3-ranked Roadrunners (33-2, 20-1 NWAC South) have won 19 consecutive games.

Ben Wagner was 2 for 4 with two RBI for the third-place Penguins (19-15, 10-11). His two-run single in the top of the sixth inning tied the game a 2-2.

Linn-Benton retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run. The Roadrunners added two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Clark scored its final run on a wild pitch in the ninth.

Clark hosts Linn-Benton in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday at Kindsfather Field, and then returns to Albany for a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
