Washougal — Hathaway Elementary School’s Clothes Closet offers families in the Washougal School District a new resource for free clothes and clothing care, as the closet has free clothes and shoes of various sizes, as well as a washer and dryer. Vans and Columbia Sportswear both donated items to the closet, which is staffed by volunteers. Junior Girl Scout Troop No. 4605, made up of Jemtegaard Middle School students, has helped out by sorting, folding, organizing and displaying items. All donations of clothing items are welcome, however the focus is children’s sizes. The closet is open from 4 to 6 p.m. on the second and third Thursdays of each month, or by appointment. Those interested can make appointments by contacting Nancy Boon, the school’s family resource coordinator, at 360-954-3899.
