Letter: Communism destroys from within

By Michael J. Kempf, Vancouver

Two letter writers responded to my April 8 letter in Our Readers’ Views, “Learn right from wrong before acting,” in which I explained how I was pushed into the street by protesting students. One writer assumed that I “show no respect for other people’s thoughts.”

After leaving the bank one day in April, I stood waiting at the crosswalk, waiting for the light to change. A group of students hindered motorists by holding signs to drivers’ windows. When they got off the street and went onto the sidewalk, I was herded into the street. There was no “parade,” rather, only a dozen students skipping school, reveling in their own sort of rebellion — not “organized” at all.

I was not only taught not to walk into a parade, but I marched in them. I was also taught that communism will destroy a nation from within its own self.

God bless America.
