ARNADA — Volunteers from Clark County Historical Museum and staff from the Vancouver’s Urban Forestry Department planted three trees on March 22 around the 1909 Carnegie Library, 1511 Main St., which houses the museum. They planted one Blackgum Tupelo and two Vanessa Ironwoods. Washington State University Master Gardener and historical museum volunteer Barbara Clark contacted the city to do the tree planting while Jessica George, urban forestry outreach coordinator, spearheaded the effort. “As we lost our well-loved elm tree to a fatal disease in 2008, the museum is honored and thankful for this opportunity to plant new community trees,” Clark County Historical Society Executive Director Brad Richardson said in a release. “Planting trees is a way to remember the past, build hope for the future, and improve the overall environment for everyone in our county and neighborhood. These trees in particular are known for their fall foliage, and we can’t wait for them show off their colors.”
