Washougal — Hathaway Elementary School students learned about healthy living April 20 during the school’s Student Well-Being Fair, which was organized by Sodexo.

The all-day fair split up students by grade and had them spend an hour learning about a different topic: nutrition, achievement, environment, community and activity.

Visiting guests Sarah Sterling, a registered dietitian from PeaceHealth; Ellen Ives, an educator for sustainability and waste reduction from Waste Connections; Sharon Whalen, with Duck Delivery Produce in Portland; Kayla Lynn, a nutrition services director from the Camas School District; and Delores Tesky, an area chef from the Salem School District, spoke to the students.

“The purpose of the event was to promote good nutrition, get the students to stop and think about the path that food takes from the field to the table, and to have fun along the way,” Mark Jasper, Sodexo nutrition services director at Washougal School District, said in a press release from the district.
