OCEAN SHORES — A dead juvenile humpback whale has washed ashore at Ocean Shores in Southwest Washington.

KING-TV reported that scientists were conducting a necropsy on the animal. Ocean Shores police Sgt. David McManus says the whale was spotted in the water three days earlier but didn’t wash ashore until early Sunday morning.

The 20-foot whale was entangled in some crab pots, but it wasn’t clear if that occurred before or after its death.
