Camas – Camas High School juniors Rachel Blair and Tsering Shola represented Girls Learn International and the Feminist Majority Foundation as youth delegates at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York City in March. The two were inspired by their work with other young women, activists and international leaders, and want to bring what they learned back to their community.

They are organizing a Women’s Empowerment Panel at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Camas High School’s north commons, 26900 S.E. 15th St., Camas. All are welcome, and the students are asking guests to bring $5 donations to support the efforts of the school’s United Nations delegates.

The panel will include Charlene Williams, Camas School District’s deputy superintendent; Heidi Keith, a tattoo artist and Camas High School art teacher; Molly Walter of Sseko Company, and Samantha Baltzersen, FBI agent. The panel will also include student leaders from The CENTER, a Portland-based hub for child and youth creativity, education, and engagement: Aaliyah Joseph, a senior at De La Salle North Catholic High School, and Ameya Okamoto, a senior at Catlin Gabel School.
