Letter: Long will move to the front

By David Bennett, Vancouver

A “backbencher” is a name given to a congressional representative who is not a leader in his or her party. A backbencher does not wield influence and rarely shapes legislation. This can be because of personality, intelligence, or work ethic. If we elect Carolyn Long, we will not have a backbencher representing the 3rd District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
