The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington is accepting nominations for Clark County’s 2019 First Citizen award.

Considered the “highest distinction of citizenship,” First Citizens are chosen for their accomplishments and contributions to the community, the foundation said in a news release Thursday. That includes “effectiveness in leadership roles, raising community standards and expectations, strengthening community identity and civic pride, and exemplary giving of time, self and resources,” the release said.

Information about the selection criteria is online at www.cfsww.org/our-community/first-citizen. All nominations packets must be submitted by 5 p.m. Nov. 30 to the Community Foundation’s office at 610 Esther St., Suite 201, Vancouver, WA 98660.

Nominations will be reviewed and a winner selected by a committee of community leaders and past First Citizens. There was no First Citizen award for 2018. Community volunteer and former City Councilor Larry Smith was the 2017 First Citizen.

A community event April 25 at WareHouse ’23 will honor the award winner.
