Letter: Support carbon fee initiative

By Patty Page, Vancouver
Published: November 3, 2018, 6:00am

Clark Public Utilities crunched the numbers and predicts that the carbon fee initiative may cost most residential ratepayers about $3 per month in 2020. What a bargain! The cost of fees incentivizes movement away from fossil fuels and escalating climate change. Fee revenue underwrites expansion of clean-energy alternatives and offsets costly pollution remediation in affected communities.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we’re blessed with so much, including a still fairly temperate climate and low power rates. In appreciation, let’s start a trend by passing the first statewide carbon fee program in the country.
