Clark County sheriff’s deputies seized 23 pounds of methamphetamine during an Oct. 31 traffic stop on northbound Interstate 5.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office announced the seizure Thursday in a Facebook post  accompanied by a photo of the drugs.

Deputies pulled over the suspect vehicle about 10 a.m. on the freeway near 134th Street. During the traffic stop, a police canine trained to detect narcotics was requested. The post does not say why deputies made the request.

The narcotics-sniffing dog subsequently alerted deputies to the presence of illegal drugs, and a search turned up the nearly two dozen pounds of methamphetamine, which has an estimated street value of $147,000, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies also found 12 pounds of MSM, “a substance commonly added to methamphetamine to increase yield and profit,” the sheriff’s office said.

Three adults were inside the vehicle: two men, one from Longview and the other from Portland, and a woman from Vancouver. The sheriff’s office did not identify them.
