SEATTLE — A spokeswoman for the Seattle Fire Department said it may take several days to extinguish a fire in North Queen Anne.

The Seattle Times reported that the 4-alarm fire Saturday night burned three buildings and two sheds on the south side of the Ship Canal. Fire department spokeswoman Kristin Tinsley said firefighters Sunday were putting out hot spots. She said embers or smoldering fires could cause the fire to reignite.

The buildings are leased by Northwest Millwork and Gascoigne Lumber. Two buildings collapsed.

Owners on the scene said the contents of the warehouses were primarily lumber. The large supply of combustible material caused the fire to spread quickly.

Gascoigne Lumber President Tom Davis said all 20 company employees were accounted for.
