The Clark County Food Bank was ranked No. 7 in the nation by 24/7 Wall St., an online news and opinion company.

The Delaware-based corporation analyzed data from charity ratings website Charity Navigator to identify the 40 food banks operating in 24 states that scored the highest in accountability, transparency and financial health. According to an MSN article titled “The 40 Best Food Banks in America,” the Clark County Food Bank has a 99.1 rating on charity navigator (100 is a perfect score) and spends 96.3 percent of expenses on programs and services. That means the vast majority of money raised benefits clients as opposed to administrative salaries.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the top-performing food banks in the nation because it’s a reflection of how our community is rallying together to end hunger,” Matt Edmonds, spokesman for the food bank, said in an email. “It is an honor to be recognized, but it’s a greater honor to have the trust and support of so many friends and community members who are lifting the burden of hunger in our community.”
