• Columbia River Mental Health Services is looking for mentors for its Great Life Mentoring program to develop a relationship with a child who needs support through life’s challenges. This program requires a yearlong weekly commitment, an FBI background check, and 20 hours of training.

• Salvation Army seeks volunteers to help with Christmas intake, ensuring clients’ holiday needs are met. Help clients fill out forms and check documents to verify information. Shifts are two to three hours long, Dec 17-21, between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

• Touchmark at Fairway Village seeks memory care volunteers to visit one-on-one with residents. Visits might include playing a game, looking at photo albums, facilitating conversations about the “good old days” or sharing a gift such as playing an instrument, singing, or leading a group craft.

• West Columbia Gorge Humane Society seeks people to provide foster homes for cats and dogs seeking forever homes. Foster homes are also needed for animals recovering from surgery or medical procedures.

• Council for the Homeless seeks volunteers for its Winter Hospitality Overflow programs. WHO shelters at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and St. Andrew Lutheran Church need fill-in volunteers for evening and overnight shifts, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m., and volunteers to help during the day on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Volunteers work in teams of two and help with shower sign-up, meals and laundry.

• Shared Hope International is looking for volunteers with handwriting or phone skills to help with end-of-the-year thank-you cards and appeals to donors. The minimum age to help is 16.
