Letter: Quiring best choice for county chair

By Margaret Tweet, Camas
Published: October 6, 2018, 6:00am

Eileen Quiring’s experience as a county councilor, Realtor, appraiser, legislator and director of a charitable trust has prepared her to serve as county council chair.

Quiring stated she would honor the repeated public votes against extending costly light rail from Oregon to Clark County. She kept her word when she ensured that bus rapid transit is the preferred public transit option in the recent Interstate 5 replacement bridge resolution, and that the project must be “fiscally responsible.” Quiring has been fiscally responsible, voting against tax hikes. County households and businesses need to live within their means, and so should local government.
