Women’s Soccer

THE WEEK THAT WAS

After Clark’s seven-match winning streak was stopped Saturday with a draw at Lane, the Penguins responded with a dominating win Wednesday against Portland College.

Clark beat Portland 4-0, outshooting the Panthers 26-2. Hannah Eakins (Washougal HS), Maddie Topaum, Jenna Young and Jillian Bolke (Union HS) scored for the Penguins.

Saturday in Eugene, Ore., Bolke gave the Penguins the lead in the 83rd minute, but Lane salvaged a draw with a goal in the 90th minute despite being outshot 16-7. Clark (9-1-1, 8-0-1) has a three-point lead over Lane (11-1-2, 7-1-1) in the Northwest Athletic Conference South Region.

THE WEEK TO COME

The Penguins travel to Grants Pass, Ore., face Rogue Community College (4-6-1, 3-4-1) on Saturday. The Penguins then host Southwestern Oregon (2-7-2, 2-6-1) on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

Men’s Soccer

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Clark snapped a three-match losing streak with a 3-1 road win over Portland College on Sunday. After falling behind the in the 29th minute, Clark stormed back with three second-half goals. Manuel Cabrera scored twice, the first in the 54th minute and the second in the 79th. Alec Watkins (La Center HS) added a goal in the 84th minute. The Penguins had 13 shots on goal to Portland’s three.

THE WEEK TO COME

Clark (2-7-1, 2-5-0) travels to Rogue (0-7-0, 0-8-1) on Saturday.

Volleyball

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Clark rebounded from a five-set loss at Clackamas on Friday by sweeping Mt. Hood on Wednesday. Olivia White (Skyview HS) had a team-high 10 kills. Mary Schorn had 13 digs and two aces as Clark won 25-19, 25-12, 25-12.

Against Clackamas , after dropping the first two sets 25-22, 25-21, the Penguins pulled even 25-21 and 25-23. Clackamas won the fifth set 15-12. Kayla McLaughlin had 12 kills and White added 11. Schorn had 37 digs.

THE WEEK TO COME

After a non-conference match against Pacific University’s JV team Tuesday, Clark (13-15, 4-3) travels to face Umpqua (10-13, 2-4) on Friday and Southwestern Oregon (11-17, 1-5) on Saturday.

Cross Country

Clark did not have a competition.

Clark will compete at the Warner Pacific XC Invitational on Saturday in Portland.
