PORTLAND — Amazon said it expects to hire 2,000 people in the Portland area this fall as it opens new warehouses and delivery centers and gears up for the busy holiday shopping season.
The company will hold a job fair Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at its new distribution warehouse in Troutdale, 1250 N.W. Swigert Way. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school degree or the equivalent, and documents showing they are eligible to work in the United States.
Amid mounting criticism of its wage and labor practices, Amazon announced last week it will pay hourly workers at all its U.S. facilities at least $15 an hour.
