While many athletes from Clark County star at Northwest colleges, others find success farther away.

Zoe McBride has wasted no time making a volleyball home for herself on the Eastern Seaboard.

A two-time Columbian All-Region player of the year at Prairie, McBride has become a key member of the Morgan State volleyball team as a freshman.

Sunday, the versatile six-footer had seven kills and 10 digs in a three-set win over Maryland Eastern Shore. Friday, she had eight kills and nine digs in a three-set win over Delaware State.

Morgan State, an NCAA Division-I program in Baltimore, has won seven of its last eight matches. The Bears are 12-9 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

McBride has been named the MEAC Rookie of the Week three times and is one of just three Morgan State players to have played in every match this season. She ranks second on the team with 242 kills, third with 183 digs and third with 26 blocks.
