Letter: Support of I-1631 is important

The United Nations intergovernmental scientific report on climate change that was issued Oct. 8 makes it clear that prompt action is needed. The report concludes that “a price on carbon is central to prompt mitigation.” Initiative 1631 is the best option Washington residents have available for instituting carbon pricing in a reasonable way. The Columbian had it wrong in its editorial when it said there are too many questions to approve the measure. There are too many hugely important reasons not to approve the measure. For the sake of our planet, our children and our grandchildren, vote “yes” on I-1631.
