Today: Ridgefield’s first Multicultural Festival celebrates its cultural diversity through music, dance, storytelling, cooking demonstrations, kids’ activities, a Lion Dance parade, vendors, and globe-spanning performances. The festival, held in downtown Ridgefield from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. as part of the First Saturdays series, is free to attend with food available to purchase. ridgefieldwa.us/event/multicultural-festival/

Today-Monday: Sample fine wines paired with delicious small plates during the Wine & Appetizer Pairing, held over three days at nine wineries. Every location will offer something different, and some establishments will have live music or discounts on wine by the glass and by the bottle. Sept. 6-15: After you’ve sampled Southwest Washington’s fine wines, its time to taste its best beers during North Bank Beer Week, featuring almost 40 regional breweries and cideries. Sept. 7: See art in the making from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the Plein Air Art Event, when artists will be creating paintings all over downtown Camas. Visit the Camas Gallery, 408 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas, from 5 to 8 p.m. to see their completed works and vote for your favorite. Sept. 7-22: The game is afoot! Magenta Theater, 1108 Main St., Vancouver, presents “Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery,” a comedy featuring Sherlock Holmes, the quintessential English sleuth, and his sidekick, the faithful Dr. Watson. Sept. 8: Find feathered friends at the annual Columbia Flyway Wildlife Show, showcasing the regions’s top woodcarving talent. Children can paint their own wooden birds, and adults will marvel at the lifelike carvings of wildlife and waterfowl displayed on the second floor. Sept. 8: Take a stroll back through time during Campfires & Candlelight at Fort Vancouver, 612 East Reserve St., Vancouver. From 4 to 10 p.m., volunteers dressed in historically accurate garb will portray residents of Fort Vancouver from the 1840s through the 1940s. Sept. 8: Connect with the past during Heritage Day at Two Rivers Heritage Museum, 1 Durgan St., Washougal, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Get free admission to the museum, browse the vendors, hear bluegrass music and enter raffles for a Pendleton blanket and Cartier teddy bears. Sept. 15: Bring broken household items to the Repair Cafe at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas, and have them fixed for free. Skilled volunteers will fix bicycles, small appliances, small electronics, jewelry, sharpen tools and knives, and do sewing repairs. Sept. 15: Arrrrrr! There be Pirates in the Plaza, 1703 Main St., Washougal, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at this family-friendly event featuring live music, food vendors, a 21-and-over “grog garden,” fire dancing, face painting, belly dancers, a pet parade and costume contest. Sept. 22: Explore the Fourth Plain International District at the Fourth Plain Multicultural Festival, at Evergreen Park, 3500 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., featuring food, music, art, dance, and sports from around the globe. It’s free and family-friendly, and it will include local food vendors, games and activities, a chance to see the four new Fourth Plain wall murals and visit booths for local organizations. www.fourthplainforward.org

Sept. 29: It’s Cornbread Day at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill, 43907 N.E. Grist Mill Road, Woodland, from noon to 4 p.m. Savor free samples of fresh-baked cornbread made from cornmeal ground at the mill — a working museum and one of only a few remaining 1800s-era grist mills in the world. Sept. 29: Get a closer look at Vancouver’s newest destination during the Waterfront Park Grand Opening, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Located along Columbia Way between Grant and Esther streets, the 7.3-acre park will feature an overwater cable-stay pier, waterfront trail, urban beach, open lawn, play area, and basalt seating areas.
